Michcon Gas Prospecting Analytics

The Challenge

The primary objective of the project was to identify prospects whose home resides on, near or adjacent to a MichCon gas line but whose home is not connected to the line. 


The Solution

We used a combination of MichCon and Third Party data to identify likely prospects that live on the gas line but are currently utilizing other sources to heat their home.  To further validate the accuracy of the “likely prospects”, we were able to leverage gas line mapping data … plotting Longitude and Latitude coordinates from this system compared to our likely prospects database. 



The Results: 

Through this sophisticated analytics approach, we were able to successfully identify prospects that met this criteria.  Marketing is underway to convert these prospects to natural gas customers.
